Najib is a UK-based Islamic finance specialist with over 15 years of rich and diverse expertise. Throughout his career, he has led numerous pioneering consultancy projects and Shariah audit engagements in 50+ countries. Central to Najib’s professional journey is Shariah audit, where he has led and conducted Shariah audit assignments for multiple institutions in banking and finance, development and social finance, asset management, insurance and re-insurance, FinTech, and others, across Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America

Najib earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Finance with Distinction from Durham University (UK), and a first-class PGDip in Finance and Banking, alongside multiple professional qualifications, most notably:

• Certified Shariah Adviser & Auditor (AAOIFI)
• Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (AAOIFI)
• Certified Islamic Arbitrator & Expert (IICRA)
• Accredited Islamic Finance Trainer (CISI)

He has advised policymakers, regulators, and multilateral organisations in 25+ countries, helping establish enabling Islamic finance ecosystems. He also played a key role in launching Islamic investment, finance, and banking operations, structuring financial products, designing Shariah governance frameworks, converting conventional entities to Islamic, and delivering capacity-building programs to dozens of institutions worldwide

Najib contributes to industry thought leadership through his work with policymakers and standard-setting bodies, advocating for higher standards of Shariah authenticity. He is a member of the “UK Islamic Finance Task Force” chaired by Lord Sharkey and serves as a Trustee at the Riba Free Foundation (RFF), a UK nonprofit promoting a Riba-free lifestyle through education, advocacy, and signposting
